Red Lake Falls, MN — The Fertile-Beltrami Falcons handed the Red Lake County Rebels just their second loss of the season on Thursday night. And they did so in dominating fashion holding the Rebels to just 51 total points.

The game started as most expected, high adrenaline, back and forth action, and trading baskets. At the 10:30 mark of the first half Red Lake County Coach Steve Philion burned his first timeout down 18-10. The Rebels would cut into the deficit over the next five minutes to make it just a one point game 24-23. From there, Fertile-Beltrami would outscore Red Lake County 21-10 the rest of the half, asserting their size advantage on the inside and Falcons Senior Derek Sorenson would bank in a deep three pointer at the buzzer to take a 45-33 lead and wipe away any momentum Red Lake County had gained.

In the second half the Falcons lead would never be less than 10 points. A combination of relentless defense and shots not falling for Red Lake County lead to Fertile-Beltrami holding the Rebels to their lowest scoring offensive game of the season. The Falcons won 81-51.

Fertile-Beltrami is now 20-4 on the season and will play at Goodridge/Grygla Friday night. Red Lake County Falls to 23-2 and will play in their Conference Championship Friday night and will wrap up their regular season next Tuesday at the Win E Mac Patriots.
