Fertile-Beltrami vs. Blackduck

Thief River Falls, MN — The Falcons of Fertile-Beltrami came out hot with the Blackduck Drakes on Saturday afternoon inside of Ralph Engelstad Arena.

Both teams went back and forth early which made it look like the game was going to be a high scoring affair. However, both defenses began to settle and dig in as neither team scored over 60 points in the game. The Falcons made their first run of the game scoring in the middle and latter part of the first half which allowed them to take a 28-16 lead into the locker room.

In the second half the Drakes were able to hang around and make things tough for Fertile-Beltrami. Blackduck came out of the half with a lot of energy and applying significant ball pressure and making life hard for Fertile-Beltrami. Blackduck made their big run in the second half to cut the deficit to just four points but despite the tough defense from Blackduck, Fertile-Beltrami stayed tough and strong behind Caiden Swenby’s 31 pts to win 57-52.

Fertile-Beltrami is now 4-1 this season and will play at the Northern Freeze next Tuesday. Blackduck falls to 3-2 and will be at home next Tuesday for their final game before break against Hill City.
