Fertile-Beltrami vs. Goodhue

Minneapolis, MN — The Fertile-Beltrami Falcons defeated the Goodhue Wildcats on Thursday afternoon 64-57 to advance to the Semi-Finals of the State Class A Boys Basketball Tournament.

It was tough sledding in the first half for both teams. Neither team seemed to be able to find their rhythm as it was a low scoring back and forth half that saw Fertile-Beltrami lead 30-28 at halftime. In the second half, Fertile-Beltrami would lead for the majority of the half. Despite the Falcons leading, Goodhue would never go away. Luke Roschen and Alex Loos had big nights for the Wildcats as they accounted for more than half of their total points. Goodhue would make it a 54-51 game late but that was as close as they would get to Fertile-Beltrami for the rest of the game as the Falcons would make crucial free throws down the stretch and seal the 64-57 win.

Fertile-Beltrami is now 26-6 overall and will play the West Central Area Knights on Friday afternoon in the State Semifinals. The Goodhue Wildcats season comes to an end at 18-14 overall.
