Grafton’s volleyball team spoiled Hillsboro-Central Valley’s final home game of the season Saturday, scoring a three set sweep–25-13, 25-20 and 25-15.
Leading 6-3 in the opening set, the Spoilers scored ten straight points to take command of the opening set and go on to win it. Addison Fredericksen served three aces in that 10-0 run.
The Burros were more competitive in the next two sets. They trailed 19-16 in set two, but lost 25-20. Then HCV led 12-9 in the third set before Grafton went on an 11-1 run on their way to a 25-15 victory. Siri Olson served four aces in that run with Fredericksen adding three kills.
For the game, Fredericksen finished with nine kills and three aces…while Molly Bjorneby had nine kills and a block for Grafton.
The Burros were led by Haley Smelden with eight kills, a block and an ace. Carsi Hatlestad added seven kills for HCV.
Grafton improves to 17-9 overall and 8-3 in Region 2. The Spoilers host Park River/Fordville-Lankin on Monday.
Hillsboro-Central Valley is now 12-13 overall and 5-3 in Region 2. The Burros travel to Hatton-Northwood Monday night.
