Recap

BBB Hillsboro-Central Valley at Fertile-Beltrami

Cold first half shooting by Fertile-Beltrami and hot outside shooting from Hillsboro-Central Valley led to a boys basketball upset Thursday as HCV knocked off Minnesota’s 4th-ranked team in Class 1A, Fertile-Beltrami, 69-66 in Hillsboro.

Carter Limke had four three-point baskets as part of his 14 point night and Jacob Brant made three threes as he scored 21.  Landon Olson didn’t make a three, but he had 20 points and several rebounds for the Burros, who snapped a two game losing streak.  Brandt, Chase Haffley and Bryce Miller each made four of six free throws in the fourth quarter to keep the Falcons at bay.

At one stage in the third quarter, HCV led 43-25.  Fertile-Beltrami was determined to come back. Caiden Swenby scored 23 points for the Falcons, with Derek Sorenson and Easton Petry scoring 15 apiece.

Fertile-Beltrami is now 16-3 on the season.  The Falcons host Sacred Heart Monday night.

Hillsboro-Central Valley improves to 7-8 on the year.  The Burros are back in action Friday night at home against Carrington.
