Hillsboro-Central Valley 59 Thompson 57

Micah Longthorne’s three point basket with one second to play gave Hillsboro-Central Valley a 59-57 win at Thompson Monday night.

HCV led by ten late in the second quarter before Thompson cut that advantage to 33-29 at halftime.  The Tommies then went on a 12-4 run to start the third quarter and go ahead 41-37.  Thompson would then take a 53-45 lead in the fourth quarter.  But the Burros bounced back to tie the game.  Thompson got back in front, but Longthorne scored a three pointer with time running out to give HCV the victory.

Jacob Brandt led the Burros with 18 points, Longthorne added 13 and Peter Dryburgh scored ten as Hillsboro-Central Valley improved to 14-7 on the year…with their seventh win in their last eight games.

Brayden Wolfgram scored 18 to lead Thompson, with Drew Overby scoring 13 and Jake Starcevic and Karter Peterson adding 12 apiece.  Thompson is now 14-7 on the season.

Both teams will now get ready for the Region 2 tournament, with their first games set for Monday against opponents to be determined.
