International Falls at Cherry

The #1 seed Cherry defeated South Ridge 5-1 and then lost to Taconite 4-2, so the Falls faced Cherry on Sunday for the right to advance to Wednesday’s Final Eight.  The Broncos scored three times in the top of the first with Talmage knocking in 2 runs on a double.  Cherry countered with 2 in the bottom of the first but the Falls got those runs right back in the top of the 2^nd to lead 5-2.  The score would stay that way until the bottom of the 7^th when Cherry got the first two men on base and would eventually score two runs before Keaton Maish came in in relief and got the final out on 2 pitches and the tying run at 2^nd base in a 5-4 victory.  Maish said he was keeping an eye on the runner on the first pitch.

Cody Joslyn pitched 6 2/3 innings before being pulled due to pitch count.  Talmage went 2-3 with 2 doubles, Sivonen was 2-2 and Jett Tomczak had a diving catch in centerfield as well as gunning out a runner at the plate early in the game.
