Recap

A doubleheader on our airwaves last night.  Let’s start with the Battle by the Border between the Viking and Bronco girls basketball teams.  Both sides had slow starts to the game and every time it seemed that the Broncos would pull away the Vikings would reel them back in.  The score at half was 25-20 in favor of International Falls.  The Broncos made it a 10 point lead early in the second half but LBF went on a run to close it to 2 points at 31-29.  From there, International Falls was able to take over the game with Lola Valenzuela scoring 9 of her 16 points in that stretch.  The final scored was 58-40 in favor of the Falls.  After the game, Lola said the Broncos had to stop playing like it was a Monday.

Izzy Valenzuela and Kale Taylor each had 10 points including a pair of 3-pointers for both as the Falls made 8 3’s in the game. With the win, International Falls improves to 13-6 on the season and will play on Thursday at home against Roseau.  For LBF, 1st year head coach Gary Kjellgren said depth on the bench played a part in the result.

Destiny Piekarski had 28 points for Littlefork-Big Falls and Kora Gustafson had 7.  The loss drops the Vikings to 2-14 on the season and they play again tonight at home at 6:00 against Northeast Range.  It is parent’s night and throw back night as the LBF girls will wear retro uniforms.
