Lake Park-Audubon 12-6, Ada-Borup-West 1-5 (2nd game 6 innings)

Lake Park-Audubon improved to 7-0 on the softball season Tuesday as the Raiders swept a doubleheader at Ada-Borup-West.

The Raiders won the first game 12-1 as pitcher Megan Musolf pitched a two-hitter, striking out 14.  Kenna Mattson led the offense by going 4 for 4 with 3 rbi.  Joee Jones had a double for ABW and scored the Cougars’ only run on a single by Chantel Kesselberg in the fifth inning.  Callie Solseng took the loss.

Game two had LPA as the home team and was originally scheduled for five innings because the first game went long. After the Raiders scored a first inning run, ABW sent ten batters to the plate in the fourth inning to score four times.  Brielle Engelstad and Avery Johnson had rbi singles in that rally, with Kadence Thom bringing in a run on a bases loaded walk.  Lake Park-Audubon scored twice in the fourth inning to cut ABW’s lead to 4-3, then a two out rbi single in the fifth by Brooke Ihry tied the game at 4 and forced extra innings.

The Cougars scored a run in the sixth on a Solseng ground out, taking advantage of two hit batters and a walk, to go ahead 5-4.  In their half of the sixth, Lake Park Audubon had runners on first and second with two out when Laney Mattson singled to tie the game at 5.  Then Kenna Mattson singled to score the winning run for the Raiders.  Tallyn Nerdahl had three hits and two rbi for LPA, while Laney Mattson had three hits and one rbi.  Musolf was again the winning pitcher with nine strikeouts; she also walked six and hit two batters.  Solseng took the loss, allowing 11 hits with a walk and six strikeouts.

Ada-Borup-West (1-2) hosts Mahnomen-Waubun in a doubleheader Thursday at 4pm at the Johnson Sports Complex.  Lake Park-Audubon hosts East Park in a single game on Thursday.
