McGregor at Cromwell-Wright
Over 30 turnovers from McGregor was more than enough for #11A Cromwell-Wright to extend their winning streak to 4-in-a-row with an 81-17 victory over the Mercuries Monday night.
After McGregor scored the first points of the game, the Cardinals rattled off 26 straight points to build their big lead which was held throughout the first half. Andrea Pocernich scored 19 of her 27 points in the opening half that was coupled with 18 Merc turnovers. McGregor had 6 points from Ava Guida as they trailed 43-9 at the break.
Cromwell-Wright continued to trust their half court pressure and used a 15-2 run to open the 2nd half. 9 different scorers would register with the Cardinals and hit 8-for-11 from the free throw line. Pocernich led all scorers with 27 points and added 7 rebounds. Sascha Korpela added 14 points and Siiena Anderson 11. Ava Guida finished with 8 points and 2 rebounds for the Mercs.
Cromwell-Wright improves to 8-1 and will hit the road to take on Two Harbors. McGregor has little time to rest with their 3-8 record and they will face Hinckley-Finlayson.
