NCE/U-H at Fertile-Beltrami

Annabelle Begg and Olivia Thies combined on a two-hit shutout as Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal defeated Fertile-Beltrami 8-1 in girls high school softball Wednesday in Fertile.

The Titans got a run in the third on Begg’s rbi single, then broke the game open with five more runs in the fourth inning and single runs in the fifth and sixth.

Fertile-Beltrami’s first baserunner was first baseman Mary Jo Dunbar, who singled with two out in the seventh and scored on Britta Sorenson’s single.

Begg pitched four hitless, scoreless innings with no walks and four strikeouts to get the win.  Thies got a save, going three innings, allowing two hits and a run with four strikeouts.

Reagan Oberg, Begg, and Emmy Engen each had two hits and a run batted in for the Titans (4-4).

Madison Steuness pitched the entire game for Fertile-Beltrami (0-8), striking out four.
