North Dakota Division B Boys Basketball State Tournament Consolation Semifinals – LaMoure-Litchville/Marion vs Sargent County

They say it’s hard to beat a team three times in a season. Sargent County did just that in their 61-56 consolation semifinal victory over LaMoure-Litchville/Marion at the ND Division B Boys Basketball State Tournament, Friday.

Both teams came ready for redemption after tough losses Thursday night in the quarterfinals. The lead changed hands ten times and was tied twice with no team leading by more than seven. The Bulldogs led by one with 21 seconds left. Grady Wehlander connected on two free-throws to stretch the lead to three with 19 seconds remaining. The Loboes got the ball back but couldn’t get it up the floor as Nicholas Hansen picked up a steal and two more free-throws to seal the victory for Sargent County.

Luke Martinson led four Bulldogs in double figures with 19. Wehlander (14), Joshua Wittich (11), and Kolten Kadoun (10) were the other three to reach double digits for Sargent County. Wittich also added ten rebounds. Max Musland led the Loboes with 29. Brayan Karlgaard also added 10 in the loss.

Sargent County (20-7) will battle for 5th against Our Redeemer’s at around 2:45. The afternoon session will start with LaMoure-Litchville/Marion (16-12) facing Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier at 1pm for 7th place. Both Saturday games will be on yourliveevent.com.
