Wadena-Deer Creek 3, Perham 1 (25-14, 21-25, 25-23, 25-18)

Wadena-Deer Creek will make its eighth trip to the Minnesota State High School Volleyball Tournament after the Wolverines defeated Perham three sets to one for the Section 8AA championship Saturday night in Pelican Rapids.

Freshman middle blocker Payton Gravelle had 20 kills, 3.5 blocks and two aces for Wadena-Deer Creek, with teammate Lola Pulver adding 16 kills and a block assist.

The Wolverines also served 12 aces on the night, with four from junior Jenna Dykhoff.

Perham was led by senior middle blocker Willow Thiel, who had 12 kills and a service ace, and senior Jaden Hackel, who added ten kills, a block and an ace.  The Yellow Jackets end the year with a 21-12 record.

Wadena-Deer Creek is now 22-9 on the year.  They will play Thursday at either 1pm or 3pm in the Class AA quarterfinals at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
