Back and forth the game went and the Aitkin Gobblers got clutch shot from Eli Christy and Landon Janzen for a 62-60 double overtime victory over the Pierz Pioneers in the Aitkin Quarterbacks Club Holiday Tournament Championship Wednesday afternoon.

The game went into overtime tied at 52 and was destined for the Pioneers to pull out a win leading 56-53. With 2.8 seconds remaining, Eli Christy tied the game with a 3-pointer to send the game into double overtime. Aitkin trailed late again down 60-59 as Landon Janzen collected a loose ball, got the bank shot to go in and followed up with a free throw to set the final score at 62-60.

Aitkin is now 2-4 with the their next game next Thursday against Cloquet. Pierz falls to 4-4 with a home game on Tuesday against Mora.
