Recap

Too many turnovers and inconsistent offensive plays forced the Aitkin Gobblers Girls Basketball team into a season-opening 69-32 loss against the Pillager Huskies Tuesday night from the Aitkin HS Gym.

From the opening tap, the Huskies size and speed proved to be too overwhelming for Aitkin and eventually turning into a 48-17 halftime lead for Pillager. The Gobblers were also put behind early with foul trouble that also turned into 20 free throw shots that the Huskies converted into 13 points.

More up-and-down-the-court play for the Huskies allowed them to build a 40 point lead and forced running time for a majority of the 2nd half. Aitkin’s limited chances were also compounded by their turnover troubles and only 15 total points in the 2nd half.

Aitkin falls to 0-1 on the season with another home game Friday, which will feature the Hill City/Northland Storm which can be heard on KKIN-AM 930/FM 103.1 “The Gobbler”, rjbroadcasting.com, and also seen on YourLiveEvent.com. Pillager is 1-0 with their home opener on Thursday against Pequot Lakes.
