Clearbrook, MN — The Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears picked up an exciting five set victory over the RLCC Mustangs on Thursday night in the final game of the regular season.

The night actually did not start out how Clearbrook-Gonvick hoped. A lack of energy to begin got the Bears down 6-0 early and the Mustangs took advantage throttling the Bears 25-9 to win the opener. In sets two and three, the Bears seemed to realize they were lacking the energy they needed and found it en route to a win in the second and third sets. Red Lake County Central was relentless in set four going back and forth with the Bears, never trailing by more then four points and used a final 8-3 run to win the fourth set 25-19. The fifth and final set saw the Bears seizing momentum early with an early 5-1 lead. But the Mustangs made their fifth set run to tie it at 6-6 but Clearbrook-Gonvick responded to lead 11-6, and nearly lost it allowing the Mustangs to scratch their way back but the Bears would hang on to win 15-11 and win the match 3-2.

Clearbrook-Gonvick ends their regular season with an overall record of 15-10. Red Lake County Central ends their regular season with and overall record of 3-20.
