Fertile, MN — The Fertile-Beltrami Falcons defeated the Red Lake County Central Mustangs 3-0, 25-15, 25-17, 25-13, on Monday night.

It was not an easy victory though however. RLCC went back and forth with Fertile-Beltrami early in the first set and even had some early momentum. But at that 14-14 mark of the set, that is when Fertile-Beltrami started their 11-1 run to close out a first set win 25-15. In the second, Fertile-Beltrami began to get comfortable starting the match up 8-4 where RLCC would call their first timeout. The Falcons would then balloon their lead to 18-7 but RLCC didn’t give up getting the score back to within six points but it was too late and Fertile-Beltrami took the second set 25-17 and the 2-0 set lead. The third set was all Fertile-Beltrami, taking the lead early and would never relinquish it despite the Mustangs many efforts to chip away at the lead getting the score to within three points but would never get any closer and would fall 25-13 and lose the match 3-0.

Fertile-Beltrami is now 15-10 on the season and will play their final regular season game on Tuesday at Fosston. RLCC falls to 3-19 and will be on the road also on Tuesday at the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears.
