Region 2 Volleyball Tournament Semifinals
MayPort-CG 3, Park River/Fordville-Lankin 1 (25-14, 20-25, 25-23, 25-7)
MayPort-CG advanced to the Class B Region 2 Championship game with a three sets to one victory over Park River/Fordville-Lankville Tuesday in Larimore.
The Patriots won the opening set 25-14, continuing their record of not having lost a set against Region 2 opposition. That run of success ended in set two, when the Aggies won 25-20. Freshman Lauren Bell had four kills and two aces for PRFL in that set, with Abby Beneda adding six kills.
In the third set, PRFL jumped to a 5-1 start…but MayPort-CG rallied to go up 10-7. The Aggies kept it close, but the Patriots scored the final two points of the set for a 25-23 win.
Then in set four, PRFL scored the first point. MPCG scored the next 18 points on their way to a 25-7 victory and a spot in Thursday’s Region 2 championship game.
Raina Satrom (who celebrated a birthday Tuesday) had 14 kills to lead the Patriots. Her twin sister Rylee (who also celebrated a birthday Tuesday) had ten kills, 1.5 blocks and three aces. Danica Hanson added 11 kills and three aces as the Patriots improve to 32-3 on the year.
Bell had 14 kills, 2.5 blocks and two aces for the Aggies…with Beneda adding 11 kills and 1.5 blocks. The 15-14 Aggies play Thompson in the third place game Thursday at 5:30 in Larimore.
