Ada-Borup-West 16-9, Rothsay 9-5

Ada-Borup-West swept a doubleheader from Rothsay Monday on a windy, rainy evening at Johnson Sports Comples.

The Cougars took the first game 16-9, as Brielle Engelstad’s two run homer capped a five run first inning for ABW.  Joee Jones went 2 for 3 with four runs batted in, while Macie Thornton was 1 for 3 with two rbi and four runs scored.  Callie Solseng was the winning pitcher.

Madi Tollerud was the losing pitcher for Rothsay in that first game; she did go 4 for 4 at the plate with a run scored.

In game two, Ada-Borup-West took advantage of wild Rothsay pitching….getting two runs in the first inning on a hit batter, three walks and a wild pitch.  Then scored two in the second inning on two walks, two singles and three wild pitches.  The Cougars added four runs in the third inning with two hits, a hit batter and three walks.  Rothsay scored five runs in the fourth inning, but couldn’t catch up as ABW scored another run in the fifth inning to make the final score 9-5 (game two was stopped after five innings after two rain delays in that game).

Madalynn Crompton had one hit and two rbi for the Cougars in game two, while Thornton went 2 for 2 with two runs scored.  Solseng pitched the first two innings to get the win.  Alex Tinjum and Ellidi Dahl finished in the circle for Ada-Borup-West.

McKenzie Tillman was 2 for 2 with two runs scored for Rothsay, with Kinsey Heier going 2 for 3 for the Tigers.  Bethany Danielson took the loss.

Ada-Borup-West is now 5-4 on the season.  The Cougars play a doubleheader at Fertile-Beltrami Tuesday.  Rothsay is now 3-8.  The Tigers play a doubleheader Thursday at Brandon-Evansville.
