State AA Consolation Final Pequot Lakes vs. Jackson County Central

For the second straight season, the Pequot Lakes Boy’s BB team finishes the year with a victory, taking home the AA Consolation Trophy.

In another grinder of a game, the Patriots took down Jackson County Central 51-44 in a game that had nine ties and five lead changes.

The biggest lead up until the final seconds was 5 as JCC went up 5-0 to start. Pequot Lakes tied it at five, and it was simply back and forth the rest of the first session as the Patriots led 26-24 at the half.

Four of the five lead changes happened in the second half as the teams continued to battle and trade jabs. Pequot Lakes took the lead for good when Harry Kennen, who led all scorers with 22, knocked down his third and final three-pointer of the game, putting Pequot Lakes up 47-44 with just under a minute to play. The Patriots ended the game on a 7-0 run.

For the four PL seniors – Clay Erickson, Brayden Spiczka, Conner Quale (all starters) and River Sommerness (one of the first off the bench), they finish their careers playing 99 games and a victory. The Patriots finish the year at 28-5.
