State AA Quarterfinal: #4 Pequot Lakes vs. #5 Minnehaha Academy

An early 16-3 run helped Minnehaha Academy maintain a lead pretty much throughout the class AA quarterfinal vs. Pequot Lakes. For the third straight season, the Patriots has shooting woes in the quarterfinal round and will be in consolation play.

Down 18-6, the Patriots cut the lead to 18-14 with an 8-0 run, but Minnehaha ended the half on a 9-3 spurt and lead at the break 63-47.

The 2nd half didn’t start any better for the Patriots. The Redhawks increased the lead to 18 at 39-21. Pequot Lakes finally made a run to cut the lead to 8 at 43-35 about halfway through the second half. But there would be no comeback, as Minnehaha hit clutch shots and went 15-16 from the free throw line in the second half to seal the win.

Pequot Lakes falls to 26-5 and faces Waseca in the AA Consolation Semis. Harry Kennen lead the Patriots with 10 points, while Ethan Quale and Brayden Dornseif both came off the bench to score 8.
