Thompson at Hillsboro-Central Valley

The Hillsboro/Central Valley Burros welcomed the Thompson Tommies to the HEC Monday night in a battle of two of the top three teams in ND Region Two Girls Volleyball. Both teams played hard, but the Tommies slowly broke down the Burros with a straight sets victory: 25-19, 25-14, 25-14.

Set 1: Neither team led by more than five points until near the end of the set. Thompson gradually inched ahead to get the first set victory.

Set 2: Both teams were even in the set to start, but Thompson took a 10-9 second set lead and outscored the Burros, 15-5 to claim the set.

Set 3: HCV led 5-2 early, but Thompson outscored the Burros, 23-9 to finish off the match.

Senior, Brenna Martin, led the Tommies with eleven kills, ten blocks, and three aces. Junior, Jordyn Tozer, also added nine kills and three blocks. The Tommies notched eight service aces in the win. Juniors, Carsi Hatlestad and Haley Smelden co-lead the Burros in kills with five each. Smelden also added three blocks and an ace in the loss.

Both teams are off the rest of the week and will be back in action next Tuesday. Thompson travels to May-Port-C-G for, essentially, the Region Two regular season championship. Hillsboro/Central Valley will look to snap a two-game losing skid as they are at Midway-Minto.
