Thompson moved one step closer to repeating as North Dakota Region 2 volleyball champions as the Tommies defeated Hatton-Northwood three sets to one Tuesday at the Region semifinals in Park River. 25-16, 25-18, 22-25 and 25-10.

Thompson’s Summer Hegg had eight kills in the opening set. The senior would end the night with 21 kills, one solo block and one block assist. Classmate Clara Stevens added 13 kills as Thompson improved to 31-6 on the season. The Tommies (31-6) will play Mayport-CG Wednesday for the Region title and a trip to the State Class B tournament.

Stella Sehrt had nine kills for Hatton-Northwood. The Thunder (13-10) now play Cavalier for third place in Wednesday’s third place game.
