After falling behind early, the Northern Lakes Lightning stormed back to beat Wadena-Deer Creek to avenge an earlier loss to the Wolverines.

WDC found the net twice in the first four minutes to take a 2-0 lead. Northern Lakes was able to bounce back, tying the game at two with just under one minute left in the opening period.

The Lightning scored the only goal in the second period to go up 3-2 and take that lead into the third.

In the third period, the Lightning tallied first to make it a two-score game. The Wolverines answered that goal just over a minute later to cut the deficit back to one, only to have Northern Lakes find the net again less than 30 seconds later to right back up by two. The Lightning then put the game away with two more goals to earn the season split with WDC.

Northern Lakes is now 9-6, 4-2 in the Mid State tied at the top with WDC, and hosts Thief River Falls Saturday. WDC falls to 11-7 and 4-2 in the Mid State.
