Public Hearing Tuesday on Essentia Health-Fosston Plan to Close Labor & Delivery Service Unit
FOSSTON, MN—There’s going to be a public hearing Tuesday night at 6pm in Fosston about Essentia Health’s plan to close its labor and delivery services unit. Essentia Health will be explaining the reasons for ending maternity care in Fosston and the public will have a chance to offer testimony on why Essentia should continue the service. The Minnesota Nurses Association opposes this plan. M-N-A president Chris Rubesch of Duluth says this is a loss of more than skilled healthcare jobs:
Rubesch says he’ll be testifying at Tuesday’s hearing.
Rubesch says pregnant mothers in the Fosston area have to drive more than an hour to have their baby in Detroit Lakes. Tuesday’s hearing starts at 6pm at Fosston City Hall.
