Region 2 Softball Tournament – Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich vs Thompson

The Thompson Tommies wasted no time in their ND Class B Region 2 Softball Quarterfinal against Langdon Area-Edmore-Munich. The Tommies turned a half-dozen first inning runs into a 15-4 victory in five innings. Thompson tallied those six first inning runs off of four hits, taking advantage of three Cardinal walks and a hit batter. Thompson added three more in the bottom of the second to go up 9-0. It looked like the Tommies were going to notch a shutout, but the Cardinals showed some life, scoring all four of their runs in the top of the third. That’s as close as they would get as the Tommies tallied six more in the bottom of the third to reach that 15-4 final score.

All but one Tommie batter recorded a hit in the win. Sydney Schwabe went four innings, striking out five while allowing three earned runs off six hits. Dru Schwab closed out the Tommie pitching, picking up the save. Raeliegh Ratzlaff led the Cardinals with a pair of hits, an RBI, stolen base, and run scored.

Thompson improves to 15-7, advancing to Monday’s semifinals to face the Cinderella, Carrington Cardinals, who knocked out the North Division top seed and host Grafton Spoilers. Langdon Area-Edmore-Munich ends their season at 7-7.
