Region 2 Softball Tournament Semifinals – May-Port CG vs Pembina County North

The May-Port-CG Patriots met the Pembina County North Grizzlies in a ND Class B Region Two Softball Semifinal, Monday. The Grizzlies fought hard but came up short as the Patriots continued their march to the championship with a 12-2 victory.
The Patriots got out in front early, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. Danica Hanson and Raina Satrom drove in Maysa Larson and Hanson respectively to make it 2-0 MPCG. The Patriots would expand that lead to five after adding three more in the bottom of the second. PCN would score their first run of the game in the top of the third after a walk, throwing error, and wild pitch helped Hannah Russell get home, cutting the lead to four. The Patriots would add five more over the third and fourth innings to go up 10-1. The Grizzlies would add their second run in the top of the fifth, after Remmi Larson circled the bases, making the score 10-2. MPCG would close out the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth, with Hanson’s third RBI of the game, off a sacrifice fly, bringing home Larson for the second time to end the first semifinal.
In addition to Hanson’s three RBI’s, two doubles, and one run scored, the senior pitcher picked up the win in the circle, allowing just one earned run and one hit in her four innings of work. Hanson finished with six strikeouts and five walks. Bryn Kritzberger picked up the save for the Patriots who advance to the Championship with an overall record of 16-2. PCN’s Katy Jensen takes the loss for the Grizzlies, who will now face either Thompson or Carrington in a loser-out contest.
