Caspar Kritzberger pitched a one-hit shutout with ten strikeouts as Ada-Borup-West squeezed past Badger-Greenbush-Middle River 1-0 Tuesday in the opening round of the Section 8A baseball playoffs at Tony Sipe Field in Ada.

The only run of the game came in the fifth inning when, with two out, the Cougars’ Brennen Fetting doubled and came in to score on a throwing error by Gator third baseman Payton Gust.

BGMR had a chance to score in the top of the sixth inning when they loaded the bases with two out.  But Kritzberger struck out Sawyer Strand to end the inning.

Taylor Davy took the loss for BGMR.  The junior allowed three hits, three walks, with one unearned run and six strikeouts.

BGMR ends the season with a 1-14 record.

Ada-Borup-West improves to 14-4 on the season and will play Red Lake County Thursday afternoon at 12:30 in Fertile as the double-elimination phase of the Section 8A tournament begins.
