Nick Johnson slammed a two run homer and Jonas Sanders pitched four scoreless innings to lead the Ada A’s to an 8-3 victory over Hawley Wednesday night at Tony Sipe Field in Ada.

Johnson’s two run homer opened the scoring in the second inning.  The A’s then added single runs in the third and fourth innings to make it a 4-0 lead.

Hawley got on the scoreboard in the fifth on a Teague Spillum sacrifice fly.  But Ada responded with three runs in their half of the fifth.  Beau Jorgenson singled in a run, Blake Fetting hit a sacrifice fly, then Beau Fetting singled to give the A’s a 7-1 lead.

The Hawks scored twice in the seventh inning to cut Ada’s lead to 7-3.  But Jonas Sanders singled to score Blake Fetting to make the final score 8-3.

Sanders pitched four scoreless innings to get the victory for the A’s.  He allowed four hits and two walks with six strikeouts.  Johnson pitched the next three innings, allowing three runs on four hits.  Zephyr Resnick and Jack Jones each threw a scoreless inning.

Alex Bretzman took the loss for Hawley (2-3).  In five innings, he allowed eight hits and seven runs.  Hawks centerfielder Zach Taft had three hits in four at bats and scored twice.

Ada improves to 2-4 on the season.  The A’s play in Fosston Thursday night. You can hear the game on KKCQ-FM starting at 7:30.
