Cass Lake Bena Robotics looking to build off very successful 2023/2024 season

Over twenty teams will be in attendance at the Northern Minnesota Robotics Conference (NMRC) Championship today in robotics, and two teams that will be competing are coming from the same school. While it’s not uncommon for larger schools to field multiple teams, it is uncommon for a school of Cass Lake Bena’s size. The uniqueness doesn’t end there however as Cass Lake Bena is also the only team in the NMRC to field an all girls team and an all girls team. Cass Lake Bena Robotics Advisor Jesse Frost tells us more about how this came to be, and the positive impact it has had on his students.

The NMRC Conference is used as the end of the 2023/2024 robotics season, but the transition into the new season is quick as students in the coming months will be retiring their current robots and getting ready to build a new one from scratch. Frost tells us more about how this process is started, and how a team puts their plan together.

Both Cass Lake Bena teams saw success last season, especially when it came to the girl’s team who qualified and traveled to Houston as one of the five NMRC representatives at the FIRST World Championship. Frost says his teams will be looking to build off last year’s success as they will be bringing back their teams fully intact.

More information on the NMRC and the upcoming Conference Championship can be seen at the NMRC website at www.nmrconference.org. Your Live Event will also be broadcasting the NMRC Conference Championship all day Friday, and Saturday for those who can’t attend.
