(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Soil & Water Conservation District is gearing up once again for another busy open-water season with out-of-town visitors and local mainstays getting the watercraft back into the lakes.

Our most recent conversation with Aitkin County SWCD manager Steve Hughes, previous inspectors are returning but more help would be needed this Spring and Summer.

The schedule and work is seasonal and weekends but does offer hands-on experience.

The Conservation District also added another helpful tool in the continuation of limiting the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species.

Inspectors will be able to assist boaters in the event AIS are found before entering or exiting a public water access.
