Wake the Lakes “Moron Lawbreaker of the Week” 6-13-23

There’s been an uptick recently in the number of stupid tourist encounters with wildlife in national parks, so much so that it has spawned the new term… “touron” — which combines tourist and moron. The latest touron is facing up to six months in jail and a $5,000 fine for harassing a bear in Yellowstone National Park.  Like every other touron before him, he approached a wild animal on video hoping the stunt would go viral. The clip shows the sunglasses-wearing bro jumping out of his car, and then running after a bear while making noises like a gorilla. The bear was frightened and retreated back into the forest, while the touron pulled off his shirt, flexed for the camera, and roared while his buddy laughed. The video was posted on Instagram and park authorities are investigating the incident which could potentially land the man in jail for disturbing wildlife and slap him with a large fine. The National Park Service continues to warn park visitors to “never approach wildlife.”
