Fischbach Co-Sponsors Bill Aimed At Promoting Law Enforcement Careers
WASHINGTON, DC—Minnesota 7th District Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach has reintroduced a bill that aims to encourage people to consider a career in law enforcement. The Law Enforcement Education Grant Program Act, as it’s called, would provide education grants to students pursuing their first degree in law enforcement or a criminal justice-related field. The grant would come with a service agreement from the recipient to work full-time in law enforcement for four years within an eight year period of completing their studies. Fischbach says her bill “provides a targeted approach to specifically invest in well-trained and highly educated police officers at a time when our country desperately needs it.” Fellow Minnesota Republican Pete Stauber is co-sponsoring the bill with Fischbach and Louisiana Congressman Clay Higgins.
