More about the Moen Folk Art Collection- Esten Moen, a Fosston, MN native, created incredibly detailed & colorful autobiographical art, books and technical engineering drawings, some cataloged within the U.S. National Library of Congress. Moen’s artwork often depicts the life of Fosston and Polk County in its earliest years, then chronicling the passage of time. His self-portraits frequently portray his laboratory in precise line-drawings. As an inventor of technology he won awards and artistically pondered Tesla’s thoughts on energy in a few of his works. To preserve this unique folk artists’ treasured collection, East Polk Heritage Center is securing funds for: archival quality display cases & storage, acquisition of works to complete collection and cataloging scanners & supplies. This project will ensure the public & generations to come may enjoy this historical, artistic and local gem.
