C-I Superintendent talks cold weather and holding schools in latest update

(Crosby, MN) — In our most recent conversation with Crosby-Ironton Schools Superintendent Dr. Jamie Skjeveland the topic of decision making of holding school with subzero temperatures during children arriving and the multiple factors that go into those decisions was discussed at length.

Dr. Skjeveland first spoke about ultimately the decision whether a child comes to school with the subzero temperatures is left to the parents.

Another factor leads to making sure the children are fed during the day.

Of course, there are extenuating circumstances that take a parent’s decision away for good reason.

An immediate thought goes to “why not just add on a day at the end of the year?”, and Skjeveland did elaborate on the process of the schedule for adding days to the calendar.
