Brynlea Mahlen retired 17 of the last 18 batters she faced and the East Polk North Stars (Fosston/Win-E-Mac) held off the NCE/U-H Titans 3-2 in the second round of the Section 8A Softball Tournament at Fosston. The Titans took a 20-1 lead into the bottom of the third inning when the North Stars scored two runs to take a 3-2 lead. Lexi Mahlen drove in what turned out to be the game winning run with a sacrifice fly afte Calli Burrack led off the inning with a walk and Ava Howard followed with a triple. The Titans outhit the North Stars 3-2. Olivia Theis pitched well for the Titans but took the loss in the circle. Brynlea Mahlen struck out 8 batters as she picked up the win in the circle for East Polk. East Polk improves to 16-4 overall while the Titans fall to 10-10 overall.
