Bagley vs. Mahnomen/Waubun – Gold 101.5 FM KRJM

Blackduck, MN — The Mahnomen/Waubun Thunderbirds held off a late game comeback from the Bagley Flyers to keep their season alive winning the East Sub-Section 3rd Place Game 5-4.

The first inning was scoreless from both teams but the bottom of the second inning for Mahnomen/Waubun proved to be the difference. In the inning the T-Birds would score 4 runs on 4 hits and one error from Bagley out in the field. The Flyers, who collected eight hits in the game, and their opportunities but could never come up with the big hit. Bagley had a base runner in every inning, including a bases loaded situation in the fifth but even in that scenario, they could only get one run in. Bagley would score one run in each of the final four innings but would come up short 5-4 and see their season come to an end.

Mahnomen/Waubun will now play in the Section 8A Tournament on Saturday in Crookston.
