Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich @ Hillsboro Central Valley

Homecoming week ended on a high note for the Hillsboro/Central Valley Burros by defeating the Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich Cardinals by a 34-26 score. The Cardinals jumped out to an early 12-0 lead in the first half behind a pair of Rayce Worley Touchdown passes. The Burros responded with big plays of a 55 yard Riley Olsen Touchdown run and a Landon Olson 85-yard Touchdown run to take the lead before Worley tossed his third Touchdown of the half to give the Cardinals the 20-14 lead going into halftime. After the break both teams would trade possessions with no scoring until Peter Dryburgh hauled in a 47-yard Touchdown and the Burros took a 21-20 lead into the final quarter. A Micah Longthorne 10-yard Touchdown catch put the Burros up 27-20  early in the fourth before the Cardinals capped a 70-yard drive with Mason Romfo plunging in from 3-yards out for his third Touchdown of the game. Trailing by a point the Cardinals would attempt a 2-pt. conversion but would be stopped short and remained trailing 27-26 on the scoreboard. Looking to run time off the clock the Burros instead found themselves running to the endzone with Cole Hebl breaking loose for a 68-yard Touchdown run and putting the Burros up by eight with 4:20 remaining in the fourth quarter. Knowing they needed the score to tie the Cardinals began the final drive and after a reverse-fleaflicker pass on fourth down kept the drive alive they held the ball within striking distance of tieing the game. In the Redzone a Cardinals run brought them within the 10-yard line before the Burros defense forced their sixth takeaway of the game by stripping the ball out and recovering the fumble with 1:32 remaining. Hillsboro/Central Valley was able to run out the clock and improve their record to 4-1 on the season while the Cardinals fall to 3-2 on the year.

With the victory Hillsboro/Central Valley Head Coach Scott Olsen earns his 100th career coaching victory.
