The Mahnomen Waubun Thunderbirds opened their season with a home win over NCE-UH 70-42.  After a few quick ties and lead changes the Thunderbirds were able to turn up the defensive pressure forcing the Titans into some turnovers, while hitting some key shots to build a nice lead.  The Titans would struggle making shots through out the night, and would also struggle with turnovers in key moments.  As the night went on the Thunderbirds would take over in the rebound department scoring on second chance opportunities.   Mahnomen Waubun opens the season at 1-0 hosting New York Mills on Saturday while NCE-UH is now 0-2 taking on Park Christian on Thrusday.
