The Hillsboro/Central Valley Burros’ defense picked up key stops and the offense moved down the field in defeating the Park River Area Aggies 28-0 to open the 2022 Season. After an Aggie punt to open the game the Burros took advantage of field position to pick up their first Touchdown of the year on a Riley Olsen pass to Peter Dryburgh from 20 yards out and a 7-0 lead after the PAT. Park River Area would then find success on offense to move the ball before stalling out in the redzone, after which the Burros put together their own lengthy drive capped off by a Cole Hebl 10 yard Touchdown run for a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter. Again the Aggies would drive before the Burro defense again stood strong, this time getting a fourth down stop at their own five-yard line. A 75-yard Olsen to Micah Longthorne pass play flipped the field and put the Burros on the doorstep for Riley Olsen to rush in from four-yards out and take a 22-0 lead into halftime. The Burros would score quickly in the second half after receiving a squib-kick near midfield, Landon Olson broke lose for a 34-yard run and capped the drive on the next play with his first Touchdown run of the season from four-yards away to push the lead to 28-0. The remainder of the second half saw both teams trade possessions with neither finding the endzone the rest of the way. The Burros will stay hoe next Friday as the defending champion Kindred Vikings. Park River Area will head home next week looking to pick up a victory when they host the Thompson Tommies.
