Polk County West @ Mahnomen-Waubun

The Mahnomen Waubun Thunderbirds started the season with a big win over a tough Polk County West team 22-7.  The Thunderbirds were able to use ball control and stiff defense to build a 14-0 halftime lead.  Polk County West made some adjustments at the half and would come out and put together a nice drive that would eat up much of the 3rd quarter and after 14 plays would get a Mike Gapp 17 yard touchdown run to cut the Thunderbird lead to 14-7.  Mahnomen Waubun would answer right back with an impressive drive that would cover 53 yards in 6 plays and would see an end result of a touchdown to build the lead back to 22-7.  From there the Thunderbird defense would hold the PCW offense to few opportunities and Mahnomen Waubun will start the season at 1-0 while PCW starts at 0-1
