Section 6AA #10 Pequot Lakes vs. #6 Milaca

The Pequot Lakes Patriots bounced back after their loss in the section tournament to keep their season alive with a win over Milaca.

The Wolves had swept the Patriots in their Granite Ridge doubleheader in two close games, but this one was not as competitive.

The Patriots, after being held to one run on four hits in their loss to Kimball, started strong with a five-run first inning where the first seven batters reached safely. They then bookended the game with a five-run seventh to push the lead to 13-2. Milaca tried to storm back, but could only manage three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning before Pequot Lakes squashed the comeback attempt.

The Patriots banged out 19 hits, lead by Georgia James’ 4-5 out put with three RBI’s along with Rian Zutter and Alex Schmidtke each having three hits. James got the win as well with six strikeouts.

The Patriots advance in the elimination Bracket to Tuesday with a 11-12 record. Milaca’s season ends at 11-12.
