Hillsboro, ND — The Hillsboro City Commission held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday night, July 6th at the Main Street Community Center. It was the first meeting with new Commission President Levi Reese running the meeting as well as for recently elected commissioner Nicole Evans. With the new commission, Commission President Reese presented a reorganizational plan with new appointments and goals for the city.

One of the hopes for Reese is to bring back a city police force. While no formal discussions have been had at the commission level, Traill County Sheriff Steve Hunt was on hand at the meeting to let the commission know that if those discussions do occur, he would like to be included in on them.

The Hillsboro City Commission also had a lengthy discussion with their engineers at AE2S about the proposed citywide street paving project and their potential paths forward.

There were two applications for façade grants that were approved this week, one for 3R Floral and other for Olsen Hardware, but President Reese says they also clarified what qualifies for a façade grant and what doesn’t.

And more bad news on the aging city pool. After some investigating, Reese says its evident that the pool is going to need a major overhaul.
