Hillsboro Votes No on School Referendum

Hillsboro- Nearly 500 residents of the Hillsboro School District expressed their choice at Tuesday’s referendum vote. While the majority of voters supported the referendum, it was not enough to reach the sixty-percent threshold.

Superintendent Paula Suda shared the results with R&J News just before 8pm Tuesday evening. An unofficial total of 470 votes were cast, with 258 “Yes” votes (54.89%) and 212 “No” votes (45.11%). There are still four absentee ballots to be collected, and six ballots set aside. Based on the unofficial results, the referendum failed by less than 30 votes.

The results will officially be canvassed at the next school board meeting.
