Audubon, MN — The Lake Park-Audubon School Board held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, January 24th. At the meeting, the board got an update on their upcoming building project that was approved by voters this past fall. Lake Park-Audubon Superintendent Dr. Tim Godfrey says they passed a resolution approving the sale of bonds, the interest rate of which came in lower than projected.

In the meantime, Dr. Gofrey notes that him and a small committee continue to work on drafting the final designs for the Elementary building and High School CTE remodel.

Bidding for the more than $20 million project is expected later this spring or early summer. Construction likely won’t get underway until winter or spring of 2023.

In other news from this week’s Lake Park-Audubon School Board meeting, the district will be losing roughly 80 years of teaching experience after accepting the retirements of three long-time staff members, including Cheryl Hogie, Mary Softing, and Catherine Childton-Werner.

The board also accepted the resignation of math instructor Riley Byklum.

And to help in retaining current support and administrative staff, Superintendent Godfrey says the board approved $1000 in COVID retention pay for those positions.

The LPA School Board also approved an E-sports co-op and the purchase of some technology items. More on that later this week on R & J News.
