ST. PAUL, MN—The number of deaths from drug overdoses in Minnesota dipped slightly from 2021 to 2022. The Minnesota Department of Health says there were 1343 overdose deaths in the state in 2022, compared to 1356 in 2021.  But the number of deaths from fentanyl continues to rise in Minnesota, accounting for 92 percent of all opioid-related deaths and 62 percent of all overdose deaths.  There were 1002 deaths from opioids in 2022, up three percent from the previous year. The Health Department’s report also says that for every one drug overdose death in Minnesota in 2022, there were almost 13 non-fatal drug overdoses.
