This Week is National Public Health Week
Ada, MN — During the first full week of April each year, the American Public Health Association brings together communities across the United States to observe National Public Health Week as a time to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight issues that are important to improving our nation’s health.
Sarah Kjono of Norman-Mahnomen Public Health says there’s often been misconceptions about the roles of public health and who they serve.
The COVID-19 pandemic put Public Health in the spotlight, but unfortunately some of their normal duties had to take a back seat. Those normal duties have since returned, but Kjono says the pandemic has had an impact on how they operate.
During each day of National Public Health Week, we focus on a particular public health topic.
