Ada A’s Edge Dilworth 7-6
MOORHEAD, MN—
The Ada A’s exploded for five runs in the first inning and held on to defeat Dilworth 7-6 Wednesday night at Matson Field in Moorhead.
The A’s had six hits in that first inning off Dilworth starting pitcher Grant Anderson. Ethan Opsahl and Jake Osowski both had 2 rbi doubles in that inning, with Nick Johnson adding an rbi single.
Dilworth came back with two runs in their half of the first on back to back rbi doubles by Jacob Hendrickson and Connor Robley. The Raildogs added an unearned run in the second inning to cut their deficit to 5-3.
Ada responded with a third inning run on Drake Solseng’s sacrifice fly and another in the fourth on a Johnson rbi single to increase the A’s lead to 7-3. Then Dilworth scored three times in the fourth inning on a two run single by Will Bachmann and a run-scoring hit by Andrew Linn to make it a 7-6 game. That’s how it stayed…even though both teams left multiple runners on base. The A’s stranded 12 and the Raildogs 11.
Jake Osowski was the winning pitcher for Ada (8-6), going 6 innings, allowing 11 hits, 6 runs (5 earned), with 5 walks and 4 strikeouts. Jonas Sanders pitched the final 3 innings to get a save; he gave up one hit, no runs, no walks with one strikeout.
Anderson took the loss for Dilworth (8-7, 5-4 in league play). He pitched 2 innings, allowing 8 hits, 5 earned runs, no walks and 5 strikeouts. Andy Pugliano finished the game for the Raildogs, allowing 7 hits, 2 runs (one earned), 2 walks, 2 hit batters and 5 strikeouts.
Johnson was 3 for 5 with 2 rbi for the A’s, with Jake Osowski 2 for 5 with 2 rbi. Sanders also had three hits for Ada. Robley was 3 for 4 for Dilworth with an rbi, with Linn going 3 for 5 with an rbi.
The A’s are off until Saturday, when they travel to Hawley for a 2pm game.
