North Dakota State Races
In North Dakota, Senator Kevin Cramer was re-elected to a second term. With over 93 percent of votes counted, the Republican led Democrat Katrina Christensen 66.1 percent to 33.6 percent.
Congressman Kelly Armstrong will succeed Doug Burgum as North Dakota’s governor. Armstrong, a Republican, led Merrill Piepkorn 68 percent to 26 percent with 5 percent of the vote going to independent candidate Michael Coachman.
And Republican Julie Fedorchak will replace Armstrong in Congress. Fedorchak was leading Trygve Hammer 69 percent to 30 percent.
Checking statewide initiatives, a measure to make recreational marijuana legal in North Dakota failed for a third time. 52 and a half percent of voters opposed the measure, with 47 and a half percent in favor.
And a proposal to eliminate local property taxes failed with 63 and a half percent of voters saying “No.”
