Republican Senators discuss 2025 Legislative priorities

December 18, 2024 News -- KRJB-KRJM-KKCQ 0

It’s going to be a chaotic year at the State Capital in St Paul with power in the House of Representatives being split, and Democrats holding a one seat majority in the Senate. This means that bi-partisanship will be more important than it has been in past years, and Republican lawmakers are excited for the legislative session. After no bonding last year St Paul will be working on getting a new bonding bill passed. R&J News talked with Senator Jordan Rasmusson (R-Fergus Falls) after the Red River Watershed Management Board (RRWMB) meeting on Tuesday, and he talked about his confidence in getting a bonding bill done, as a member of the Capital Investment Committee.

Senator Rasmusson also talked about his priorities for 2025, and what he would like to get done next year.

Senate Minority leader Mark Johnson was also in attendance at the RRWMB meeting, and he told R&J News that he is excited for this upcoming year, and he also said that the budget bill will be a main focus for him.

Lately, for District 2 Senator Steve Green (R-Fosston), his priority for 2025 is to look toward the future, and to spend tax dollars more responsibly, so that the projected $5 billion deficit is less impactful.

Interviews with Senators Johnson, Rasmusson, and Green will be available at rjbroadcasting.com.
